Soldier's Funeral Set at Santa Anna
SANTA ANNA, Oct. 13
Re-burial services for James Leon Bartlett will be held Thursday in theĀ First Baptist church with Rev. S.R. Smith of Brownwood and Rev. T.M. Gillham of Santa Anna officiating. The American Legion will conduct a full military burial service.
Bartlett, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Ed Bartlett of Santa Anna was killed in action at Nichols Field, 10 December 1941 in the Philippine Islands.
He graduated from Santa Anna High School in 1930. He later attended Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene where he was a member of the Cowboy band for three years.
At the time of his enlistment in the Air Corps in May 1941, he was employed at the Burton-Longo Co. in Odessa.
