Born in Six Mikle, he was the son of the late Wade Hampton and Kimmie Sullivan Davis. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service and was a bailiff for Greenville County. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Leawood Baptist Church where he was a member of the B. F. Rogers Sunday School Class. Surviving are his wife, Margaret Pickel Davis; three sons, Richard Hampton Davis of Easley, Joseph Wayne Davis of Greenville and Jerry Allen Davis of Greer; and five grandchildren, Thomas Richard Davis and Andrea Crystal Davis, both of Greenville, Richard Hampton Davis Jr. of Easley and Casey Autumn Davis and Chase Allen Davis, both of Greer.
