  • Notes
    • According to a descendant, Ran Pickell, the father of William Pickel was "Jacob the German ...," and according to notes made by Ran's grandfather, Dr. James Marion Pickel, Jacob Pickel "was 'hacked down' on his property by the Tories."

There may be some support for this in the fact that William Pickel named his first son, "Jacob Pickel." It was a convention at the time to name one's first son after one's own father.
