This is the only census record to show his name as Ira G. Broyles, physician; however, his surname was written "Boyles." In the 1880 Census he will be shown as I.G. Broyles, Retired Physician. He was living in the household of B.M. and Elvira Terrell.

What appears to be "J.G. Broyles" is living in the household of B.M. Terrell. While at first glance this does not appear to be Ira, the connection to his living with this family in 1850 suggest that it is the same person. Unfortunately neither his age nor his occupation are listed in this census. Others in the household who will be living in Ira's household in 1870 include:
H C Terrell age 12 who is probably Henry Terrell who is 22 in the 1870 Census
Andrew Woods, age 23, clerk, who is probably Andrew Woods who is probably Andrew Wood, age 32, occupation - clerk in dry goods store in 1870.

His household consisted of:
Benjamin Broyles, age 54, occupation farmer, birthplace Alabama
Andrew Wood, age 32, occupation clerk in dry goods store, birthplace Mississippi
Harry Terrell, age 22, occupation farmer, birthplace Mississippi
Maria Bunch?, age 45, occupation housekeeping, birthplace Mississippi

Living in the household of Louis Anderson, 36, a laborer who was a widower. Careful scrutiny of his name shows that it could be I. G. Broyles, Retired Physician.
