    • He was taken prisoner by the Union. Army at. Vicksburg, Miss. when he was serving as a Colonel of the 38th Georgia Infantry. He was a member of the Georgia State Legislature and voted against secession from the Union.
      When he moved to Colorado he was appointed Begistra of the Government Land Office in Del Norte, Colorado, and while there met Nellie Armstrong to whom he was married April 19, 1883 at Alamosa „ Colorado.
