Theretta was born and raised in Malakoff, Henderson Co., Texas. When she was about 10 years old, her eldest sister, Theora, began Baylor College for Women in Belton, Texas. Mrs. Bartlett moved to Belton with her four daughters, in order to be near Theora. When Theora eloped with John Ray Guinn in 1920, Mrs. Bartlett returned to Malakoff with…Small town girl, but in style...
During the time she lived at home in the early 1930's Theretta and her sister Therma often made trips to Dallas for shopping. The Depression had hit her father very hard and the family was not as affluent as it had been, but Theretta managed to live a good life for a young woman of that time.Bartletts in Palestine
