- Services for Bettye Wyly Swanson, 70, of Liberty City will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at the First Baptist Church of Liberty City with the
Reverend Wayne Eubank officiating. Mrs. Swanson passed away Saturday, July 23, 2011 in Tyler.
Mrs. Swanson was born October 15, 1940 in Tyler, Texas to the late Graham and Raycene Wyly. She graduated from Tyler High School in 1958 and earned an associate degree from Tyler Junior College. She was a longtime member of the Liberty City First Baptist Church and the Beta Sigma Phi sorority. Bettye worked as an Accountant and Bookkeeper for many years. She enjoyed collecting thimbles, crafts, music, and singing. Mrs. Swanson was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be missed by all who knew her.
Mrs. Swanson is survived by her husband of 29 years Tommy Swanson of Liberty City; two sons and their spouses Scott and Jody Lancaster of Grand Prairie, and James and Paula Lancaster of College Station; daughter and spouse Sandra and Clarence Dubois of Liberty City, and daughter Carla Riggs of Kilgore; two brothers and a sisterin-law Dan and Sylvia Wyly of Tyler and Jim Wyly of Cedar Creek; grandchildren Ben Lancaster, Clayton Newell, Sabrina Lancaster, Natalie Lancaster, Justin Lancaster, Adina Barnett, Rachel Dubois, Alex Dubois, Jacob Swanson, and Zachary Riggs; cousins Tandy Zorba, Ray Coates, William Coates, Connie French, Sara Harris, Bill
Wyly and Matthew Hunt; aunts Gypsy Belew and Joyce Hunt; as well as numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many other loving family and friends.
