      FALMOUTH -- Randel Bartlett Pickel died on Saturday, April 6, 2013, following a short illness. He was a recent resident of Sedgewood Commons in Falmouth.
      Randel was born and raised in Palestine, Texas where he lived for many years. Following the death of his mother, Randel moved with his brother Michael to Maine. Randel spent many happy years working in the Seedlings (greenhouse) Program at the Morrison Center in Portland.

      A lover of music and art, he particularly enjoyed dancing, and was an avid artist who was never far from his pencils and paper. His artwork was exhibited for several years state-wide through Very Special Arts of Maine.

      He was a jolly, loving man, with a great memory of facts and events, who frequently surprised people with the breadth of his knowledge. He will be missed by all who knew him.

      Randel was predeceased by his mother, Theretta (Bartlett) Pickel and his father, Robert H. Pickel, both of Palestine, Texas. He is survived by his brother Robert Michael Pickel of Falmouth; and many loving family members and friends.

      A memorial service will be held at Sedgewood Commons in Falmouth on Friday, April 12, at 10 a.m. A funeral service will be held at St. Phillips Episcopal Church in Palestine, Texas on Saturday, May 4, at 10 a.m., followed by burial in the Palestine City Cemetery.
