      "Funeral services for Mrs. T.A. Bartlett Sr., one of Malakoff's outstanding citizens were held Sunday afternoon at the family home for close friends and relatives.
      Rev. M.M. Davis, pastor of the Athens Methodist Church, and Rev. L.B. Fowler, pastor of the Malakoff Baptist Church, officiated.
      Interment was in the Athens City Cemetery.
      Mrs. Bartlett, 72, passed away early Saturday morning at her home following a lengthy illness. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. E.R. Broyles and married Mr. Bartlett in the Rural Shade community in 1897. They moved to Malakoff in 1902.
      Mrs. Bartlett was a member of the Methodist Church, having joined in 1917. She was, however, an active worker for the Malakoff Baptist Church as well as a leading civic figure.
      Her husband, a retired businessman, is the former owner of the Malakoff City Water System. Mrs. Bartlett also played an active part in the work of the Athens Eastern Star chapter.
      Besides her husband, Mrs. Bartlett is survived by one son, T.A. Bartlett Jr. of San Angelo; four daughters, Mrs. John Ray Guinn of Malakoff, Mrs. Roy Parnell of Athens, Mrs. R.H. Pickle of Palestine, and Mrs. Boyd F. Sharp of Anthony, New Mexico; one brother, E.A. Broyles of Malakoff; two sisters, Mrs. John Miles and Miss Artie Broyles, both of Malakoff; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
      The pallbearers were Maj. Boyd and Dr. Terrell Sharp, Robert H. Pickle. John R., Billy and John A. Guinn and Roy Parnell. Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements."
