Notes - "Son of Abel Davis and Sarah Johnson. Was a private in Civil War, wounded at Drury's Bluff, Va. 16 May 1864. Witness Q.S. Adams & T. W. Barley. Enlisted 22 April 1862, discharged 23 June 1865. Co. E 43rd, Ala. Inf. Reg. - Was paid $11 a month for fighting. Was captured at Hatcher's Run 25 March 1865 & released 11 June 1865 from Point Lookout, Md. In later years he had a blacksmith shop in front of his house by the road between Putnam and Nanafalia. He had a long white beard."
