  	"Watson Reed moved from Ark. to Texas in 1851, and rented land in Brazos Co. where he made a crop in 1852. In the winter of 1852 he moved to Naccatush Parrish where be bought a saw mill, a grist mill and a cotton gin, and later bought land near Gordonville where his son Johnathan Augustus, with the negro slaves cleared up and put in cultivation quite a plantation. Later, Father Reed sold his mill and gin business and moved to Gordonville where he became a dealer in dry goods and general merchandise and here the Civil War found him and his family."
