Mother Barbara Ann Freshour, Va. both of German parentage He was one of eleven children - George, John, Susannah, Mary, Peter, Daniel, Betsy, Jacob, Joseph, Rebecca, and Samuel Died: 1879 Cedar Township, Muscantine Co., Iowa Storm, Samuel, section 25, P.O. Letts, born in Ross Co., Ohio 1807, parents were German and natives of Virginia. They had eleven children and only one beside the subject of this sketch is living. John age ninety resides in Ross Co., Ohio. Samuel came to Muscantine Co., settled on his present farm in 1837, forty-two years ago. His brother George settled in 76 Township in 1835, resided sixteen years then removed to Keokuk Co., where he died in 1866. Samuel has 360 acres; troubled with asthma for sixty years and the last twenty years unable to farm. His farming is conducted by three sons of his brother Jacob: George, and John and Peter.
