  • Notes  Married:
    • "John married Anne Gassaway (1670-1742) at Anne Arundel County, Md in 1688. John was 28 years old, and Anne was 18. Anne was the daughter of Col. Nicholas Gassaway (1634-1698) and Anne Besson Gassaway (1638-1692). Col. Nicholas Gassaway was born in Westminster, London, England and died at South River, Anne Arundel County, Maryland. Anne Besson was born in Maryland, but her dad was born in England. John and Anna and all of their children were born in the American colony in Maryland before it became known as the USA. The brick church that many in our family were buried was built on land owned by Anne Gassaway's parents. "
