- JOSEPH ERNEST BROYLES JR., 34, of EspaƱola died Monday. He was born in La Jara and raised in Fox Creek, Colo. He attended Antonito High School, then moved to EspaƱola where he graduated from McCurdy School. He was raised by his grandfather, Joseph Ernest Broyles and grandmother, Daisy Mae Broyles. He loved the San Luis Valley and enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, go-carts and camping with his wife, sons and friends. He was newly enrolled in college and was looking forward to a future in computer-aided drafting. He is survived by his children, Jerome Anthony, Jeremy Tommy, and Jessie Joseph Broyles and wife Jeanette Garcia; niece whom he and his wife helped raise as their own daughter, Steffanie Sanchez; mother, Linda Johansen of Antonito, Colo.; brother, Jonathan Johansen of Fox Creek, Colo.; sisters, Janet Martinez of Denver and Donna Salazar of Los Lunas; and many other relatives and friends. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ojo Caliente with burial to follow at Fox Creek Cemetery
