- Services for William Jowers "Bill" Rogers, 62, of Palestine will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Pilgrim Cemetery with Judge Bascom Bentley officiating. Masonic rites will be conducted by the Palestine Masonic Lodge No. 31 A.F. & A.M. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mr. Rogers died Tuesday at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler.
He was born September 22, 1940 in Palestine to the late Moses Mills Rogers and Margaret Louise Flanagan Rogers.
Mr. Rogers was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Palestine Masonic Lodge No. 31 A.F. & A.M., Scottish Rite Mason, Waco Consistory and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Lodge No. 8924. He graduated from Palestine HIgh School in 1958.
He was the owner of the Bill Rogers Buick, Pontiac, GMC dealership in Palestine. He also was the former owner of Bill Rogers Chevrolet in Grapeland and had been a dealer with General Motors since 1975.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Ann Trigg Rogers of Palestine; daughters, Leigh Anne Rainer and Tracye Herbrough, both of Palestine; son, Bill Rogers Jr. of Palestine; sister, Pat Rogers of Portland, Ore.; brothers, Jack Rogers of Palestine, Richard Rogers and Tom Rogers, both of Elkhart; grandchildren, Taylor Carnes, Kady Rainer, Kristen Rogers and William Rogers III.
Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Crutcher, Rayburn Moore, Jim Ulrich, Jay Herrington, Chris Rogers, Patrick Knowles, Billy Mack Ingram, Walter Cook, Tony Dressell Sr. and Bobby Totah.
