  	Funeral services for Millard S Avant of Baxter community were held Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at the Carroll & Lehr Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Joe Bennett Stewart, pastor of the Cross Roads Methodist Church, officiating. Interment was in the Davis Cemetery. Mr. Avant died at this home Monday at 8:30 p.m. after suffering a stole Monday morning while working on his farm. Born March 6, 1888, Mr. Avant had lived in Baxter the greater part of his life. He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Avant of Baxter. Mr. Avant worked several years for the Southern Pacific Railroad in Jacksonville. He was a member of the Methodist Church in Baxter, having joined when a young man. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Virginia Avant; two daughters, Mrs. Harold Clark, Athens and Mrs. Jerry Pardue of Tyler; one brother, B. F. Avant, Brownsboro; one sister, Mrs. Lena Jepson, Baxter and three grandchildren.
