  	It takes a bit of faith to believe that this is correct since there are some variances in the data in this record: 1. Listed as George and Catherine Pickel. 2. His birth is listed as March 1829 in Alabama, but his father is listed as born in Virginia rather than North Carolina. 3. Catherine's birth is listed as March 1827 in Mississippi although her place of birth has been listed as Alabama in other census reports.

  In the 1870 Monroe County Census, George is listed as being 13 years of age (calculated birth would be 1857). In the 1880 Census, he is listed as 21 years of age (calculated date of birth is 1859). In the New Hope Cemetery, George Dave Pickle is buried within a iron picket fence enclosure. The nameplate on the gate is inscribed with "Dave Pickle". A second grave within the enclosure is of Johnemon Pickle. Johnemon was born July 7, 1910 and died November 20, 1927. It is assumed at this time that Johnemon was a child of George (Greg Green 1/2/2001).
